This unique, natural edge macadamia nut wood bowl was handmade by professional bowl turner Llosh Winne on the Big Island of Hawaii. Made from the wood of a locally-grown, sustainably-sourced macadamia nut tree, this bowl was hand-turned and sanded with the utmost care and attention to detail.
This artisanal bowl has a natural edge with bark inclusion and is detailed with fine lapis lazuli gemstone inlay. Inspired by Japanese kintsugi art, cracks and holes in the bowl are colorfully decorated with royal blue lapis lazuli gemstone. As a philosophy, Japanese kintsugi treats breakage and repair as an honorable and beautiful part of the history of an object that strengthens and enhances, rather than diminishes. More than just an art form, kintsugi teaches us that the “flaws” in wood art are what make each piece unique and valuable. The blue of the lapis lazuli stones add a bright, beautiful, colorful contrast to the dark, reddish-brown tone of the macadamia nut wood.
